Sell a domain you own
Card checkout into your own Square account
Three steps: connect Square, add one DNS record, set a price. Buyers pay by card into your own Square account; their card is held, not charged, until the transfer is proven.
Already selling it on Dan.com, Afternic, Sedo, Atom or GoDaddy? List with that link instead, no Square needed.
- Connect Square (sign in and approve). No Square account yet? It is free to open; you will need your bank details.
- Add one TXT record at your DNS host. It proves you control the name and says which Square account gets paid. We show the exact fields for GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare and six others.
- Set your price. The listing goes live when the record resolves, usually within minutes. A portfolio uses the same record value on every name, and you can paste many names at once.
Your names
See what each listing pays you before you connect anything. One name and asking price per line; we keep the list on this device and fill it in after Square sends you back.

What you keep
At a $1,000 price:
The payment goes to your Square account; audit.domains never holds it. Our 5% fee is taken by Square when the payment completes. No account here, no listing fee, no fee if it does not sell.
When you are paid
Up to $2,000, you are paid when the buyer confirms, or when the registry shows the name at the buyer's registrar and their proof record appears, or 48 hours after that move if the buyer reports no problem. If none of that happens within 7 days, the hold ends and nobody is charged.
After a sale, unlock the name and send the buyer the transfer (auth) code the same day: moves between registrars can take up to 5 days of the 7-day hold. A name registered or transferred in the last 60 days usually cannot move to another registrar yet.
What connecting Square allows
Card checkout needs a US Square account that can take card payments. audit.domains can create card holds on your account for buyers of names you list, capture or cancel them under the rules on this page, and take its 5% fee from a completed sale. It cannot withdraw your money, move your balance or see card numbers. You can revoke access in Square at any time; listed names then stop taking payments.
Or list with your marketplace link, no Square
Already selling this name on Dan.com, Afternic, Sedo, Atom, GoDaddy, Escrow.com? List it here too and buyers are sent to your page there. That marketplace runs the payment and escrow; audit.domains holds no money and takes no fee.
Add two TXT records at your DNS host, both with the name _for-sale (most hosts add your domain for you, so type only _for-sale).
First value
Second value
Records usually show up within minutes. Remove them and the listing leaves the page on our next check.
